
Ultralight pilots currently registered with an FAA-recognized ultralight pilot registration program (U.S. Ultralight Association, Aero Sports Connection or Experimental Aircraft Association), or who register by the issuance of the final Sport Pilot rule (issuance date September 1, 2004) may obtain the sport pilot certificate by:
Current "fat" ultralights and 2-seat ultralight trainers
can transition to Experimental Light-Sport Aircraft status within
36 months of the issuance of the Sport Pilot/Light-Sport Aircraft
regulation (issuance date September 1, 2004). Your plane needs
to be inspected by an authorized inspector and issued an airworthiness
